Oxfam Australia is an Australian charity which is independent, not-profit, secular, and provides community-based aid. It is an affiliate of Oxfam International. Oxfam Australia’s projects include long-term development projects, responding to emergencies and campaigning to improve the lives of disadvantaged people around the world. Oxfam Australia aims to give people with a disadvantage improved access to social services, a heard voice in decisions, equal rights and status, and safety from conflict and disaster.Oxfam Australia runs from funds that are provided generally by communities and individuals. Oxfam’s developmental and advocacy programs use 75% of funds that are donated to it, 15% of the donated funds are used to invest for future income, and the remaining 10% of the donated funds are used for finance and administration. In case there is an emergency, 85% of the funds are used directly for helping the people affected by emergencies.

In 2007, the work done by Oxfam Australia’s work helped more than 4.4 million people in 37 countries. This was made possible by the support of more than 187,000 donors and campaigners. Oxfam Australia has a program called Oxfam Unwrapped which is a new and interesting way of sending gifts. Oxfam gift is a program that has been going on since 1953.
