Action Aid Australia is an anti-poverty agency which also fights for rights. This agency goes deep into the causes of such problems rather than just its effects so that such problems can be eradicated from this world. The motto at Action Aid Australia is that whether any person is rich or poor, he or she is entitled to basic human rights. At Action Aid Australia people work together to end poverty and injustice in this world. Mutual respect, Equity and justice, Honesty and transparency, Solidarity with the poor, Courage of conviction, Independence and Humility are the values at Action Aid Australia.Action Aid Australia in the starting was developed as a national association dedicated to the rights of refugees in 1967. Then it was in the name of Austcare. It’s initial role was to raise the attention about the number of people being displaced around the world. It was in the 1980s that Austcare started funding and administering its own projects through a number of partner agencies in the world. The transition into Action Aid came when it started working with global Action Aid agency, in 2005, giving response to the South Asian earthquake in Pakistan and the Boxing Day Tsunami in Sri Lanka and Indonesia.

People at Action Aid just don’t hand out aid. Instead they go a step further and work with people living in poor countries so that these countries can stand up on their own feet. During emergencies and disasters Action Aid provides instant relief to the people affected and it also helps them prevent such happenings in the future. Every year an approx. of 300 million people are affected by conflicts and disasters.

A recent program of the Action Aid Australia is 1GOAL: Education. 75 million children around the world are denied the opportunity to go to school. Action Aid is part of 1GOAL, a new campaign in partnership with FIFA World Cup 2010 to ensure that every child has the opportunity of an education. Another program of the Action Aid Australia is the Hunger Free Scorecard. Around a billion people around the globe go to sleep hungry at night. Australia has a major section of the billion people. People are signing an online petition to the PM Kevin Rudd as a form of a protest.

Action Aid Australia has been fighting for the people of Australia for a long time trying to give all the people basic facilities that are possible and on a larg scale it has been successful.
