UNICEF Australia

UNICEF Australia or United Nations Children’s Fund is an organization dedicated to saving lives and promoting the welfare of children all over the world. The organization worked in preventing disease and educating health and hygiene practices. Part of its advocacy is to promote gender equality in countries known to have to have persecuted and discriminated women. They have online presence in which they provide detailed information on the functions of the organization in terms of helping children worldwide most importantly in areas where poverty or disaster is prevalent.
UNICEF Australia also made strides in helping children to prevent diseases. Millions of children die each year due to preventable diseases including malaria, measles, pneumonia and cholera. It also worked to give children vaccines to prevent and stop any illnesses. Among their good works include providing the community with safe water to drink. UNICEF also goes to areas where water is not safe to drink by providing water-purification tablets and creating water sources such as hand pumps and wells. In areas where there are children who suffer and die from diseases caused by mosquito like dengue fever and malaria, UNICEF is providing tools and insecticides that help reduce the mortality rate of both children and pregnant women. The organization also ensures that children and well-educated on how to practice hygiene such as hand washing by building sanitary facilities for them.
Another area where the organization worked hard to is promoting women rights and gender equality. In third-world countries, women discrimination is prevalent. There are hundreds and thousands of illiterate adults in the world and majority of them are women. Women education has an impact on the welfare and health of children.
In most areas like Asia and sub-Saharan Africa, women are known to have less power to make household decision and this is where the organization focused to help improve the nutrition and health of children. The organization helps women and girls as well as boys and men in order for them to obtain proper education regarding the importance of gender equality and in empowering women to participate in household decisions.
UNICED leveraged the internet to educate the public about its advocacy, vision, mission and goal. In their website, they provide information regarding its programs and the assistance they give to children and less privileged individuals. It supplies information as well on how people can participate in this advocacy. It has a strong presence in 155 countries with partners that have helped them carry their mission and continue to extend help to those people that need them the most.
