The Smith Family is an independent charity for children that extend their help to disadvantages Australians to get the most of their education in order for them to make their lives better and to have a better future. It is undeniable that Australian children are the most vulnerable and precious resource. However, one out of seven of them are living in disadvantage and are not able to access the same opportunities in life, health and education that most of us enjoy and usually take for granted.

The Smith Family educates people to help them change their lives. They believe that providing education for children is the key to breaking the cycle of disadvantage and ensuring that they have access to the privilege to learn like other children.

The organization believes in the possibilities of the relationships. In order for disadvantaged children to prosper, they need to have support from extended family to which they can connect to despite growing up in lone parent. The organization has a program that known as learning for Life whose main goal is to support young individuals and disadvantaged children through education, from primary to tertiary studies until they get a career. This long term support provides Australian children the assistance they need in order for them to develop skills vital in life and in engaging in their education to make the most of their potential.

The program is also provided to young people in three ways, through their workers who connect them to learning opportunities in their local area and in encouraging those to pursue education, by allow access to the literary programs of the organization and through financial assistance to help poor families afford the cost of the education items of their children.

In addition to supporting disadvantaged children and young individuals, Learning for Life also help their families who provide nurturing relationships and supporting learning environments for children. Parents can access education opportunities so they can help their children in developing vital life skills and abilities.

The organization’s network of strong partners with other groups and individuals work towards its goal to care for Australian children. At present, the Smith Family is helping almost a hundred Australian communities and the organization is joined hands with volunteers and corporate partners who dedicate their time and effort to ensure that children are provided with the help they need. They strive to reach their vision which is to create caring and cohesive Australian communities.
